Parvoviroza Canină – O Boală Fatală Care Poate Fi Prevenită

Ce este parvoviroza?

Parvoviroza canină (CPV) este o boală virală extrem de contagioasă care afectează în special cățeii cu vârste cuprinse între 6 săptămâni și 6 luni, cauzând moartea în majoritatea cazurilor. În situații mai rare, boala poate să apară și la căței cu vârstele cuprinse între 6 și 10 luni.

Câinii adulți pot fi și ei afectați de parvoviroză, însă formele de manifestare sunt mult mai ușoare, adulții având o imunitate crescută.

Virusul atacă rapid celulele din corpul câinelui, afectând sever tractul intestinal. De asemenea, Parvovirusul poate dăuna mușchiului inimii, ceea ce cauzează probleme cardiace pe tot parcursul vieții.

Tipuri de parvoviroza

Manifestarea cardiacă a parvovirozei – este caracterizată prin insuficiența cardiovasculară sau respiratorie a puilor de câine. Sindromul cardiac în parvoviroză este mult mai rar întâlnit decât forma care se manifestă la nivel intestinal și este găsit la pui foarte mici, cu vârsta sub 8 săptămâni.

Acești pui au fost infectați, cel mai probabil, prin intermediul mamei, încă din uter.

În puținele cazuri în care cățeii reușesc să țină piept virusului și supraviețuiesc, rămân cu sechele și complicații  pe tot parcursul vieții.

Manifestarea intestinală a parvovirozei.  Forma care afectează tractul intestinal este transmisă prin contact oral cu virusul. Acesta se transmite în special prin fecale sau prin atingerea pământului infectat, iar când un cățel nevaccinat intra într-un mediu infectat, virusul se va transmite rapid.

Primul pas al infectării unui cățel este ingestia virusului și replicarea acestuia în țesutul limfoid, localizat în gatul animalului. Apoi, virusul se răspândește în sânge, distrugând celulele albe, ajungând în cele din urmă in intestinul subțire, unde afectează puternic țesutul și mucoasa intestinală.

Acest lucru produce leziuni care duc la trecerea în sânge a bacteriilor din intestin, producând septicemie. De asemenea, din cauza faptului că procesele normale de absorbție intestinală nu se mai produc, intervine o stare de deshidratare severă.

Dacă virusul este depistat îndeajuns de repede și se începe tratamentul adecvat, cățelul are șanse să se recupereze.

Atenție!

Un cățel care a supraviețuit parvovirozei va avea în organism reminiscențe ale virusului, pe care îl poate transmite prin fecale, până la 3 săptămâni.

Parvovirusul este atât de puternic, încât poate să reziste în pământ chiar si un an de zile, de aceea este crucial să decontaminam zonele care ar putea să fie infectate, iar pentru o perioadă de cel puțin 6 luni să nu fie adus în zona respectivă nici un pui nevaccinat.

Când este lăsată netratată, parvoviroza are o rată de mortalitate de aproximativ 90-95%. În cazul în care este identificată la timp și se administrează tratamentul, rata de mortalitate din cauza bolii, scade la 30-50%.

Simptome ale parvovirozei

Perioada de incubare este de 5 – 14 zile

Simptomele parvovirozei variază de la câine la câine, însă printre cele mai comune se numără:

– letargie

– febră

– vomă

– diaree

– scaune cu sânge

Este important ca la primele semne pe care le observi la cățelul tău, să iei imediat legătura cu medicul veterinar!

Cum se diagnosticheaza parvoviroza?

Boala se diagnostichează prin examen fizic, teste de diagnostic rapid, teste biochimice și ecografie abdominală.

Testul rapid folosit este ELISA.

Tratamentul parvovirozei canine

Deoarece boala este, de fapt, o infecție virală, nu există un antidot real pentru ea, iar tratamentul se concentrează pe vindecarea simptomelor și prevenirea infecțiilor bacteriene. Este recomandat ca acesta să se facă într-un mediu spitalicesc, sub supravegherea unui medic.

Terapia intensiva este cheia recuperării în cazul parvovirozei. Administrarea intravenoasă de fluide este esențială!

Medicamentele folosite pot fi: antibiotice si  antihelmintice pentru lupta cu infecția și paraziții și  medicamente care să reducă greața.

Cum prevenim parvoviroza?

Primul pas în prevenirea bolii este izolarea și protejarea cățeilor nevaccinați de mediul extern și de alți câini și, bineînțeles, vaccinarea la vârsta recomandată.

Un stăpân responsabil va respecta schema de vaccinare a cățeilor, care începe la vârsta de 5-6 săptămâni și include mai multe vaccinări, care au ca scop imunizarea corecta a cățeilor împotriva unor boli ce pot fi fatale, așa cum este parvoviorza.

Parvoviroza se transmite la om ?

Parvovirusul canin nu afectează decât câinii. Acesta nu poate fi transmis la om sau alte specii de animale.
